True ‘Rainbow’ Colors

Simply the Declaration

A Nation of Tolerance

As the media keeps gushing on about how America has finally adopted tolerance as the great virtue, and that we’re all united now, let’s consider the reality of the issue.

Let’s look at tolerance; what exactly is tolerance? From the Oxford Dictionary: (1) the acceptance of the differing views of other people, e.g. in religious or political matters, and fairness toward the people who hold these different views; (2) the act of putting up with somebody or something irritating or otherwise unpleasant; (3) the ability to put up with harsh or difficult conditions.

Interestingly, many other names, as well as attitudes and behaviors for tolerance are open-mindedness, acceptance, forbearance, and being very broad-minded to the point of lenience.

For years I have been writing about ‘Raising and Lowering’ the bar of acceptable standards, primarily with respect to education. However, as most know our public education system in this country has been in academic decline perhaps due to the overall decline in societal standards. Hmm, think about it!

No one is going to lambaste any person for their own particular beliefs, as long as those ‘beliefs’ are something that are tightly held within the various sub-cultures where they belong.

Existentially speaking, one of the greatest things about America is that people have a choice. Moreover, not only choice, but the freedom of choice at that! No person is saying any group of people can or cannot be the way they are.

What is being said is if you choose to go against the beliefs, customs, and what are construed as norms in that society you are not only exercising your choices, yet at the same time you many be trampling the freedoms and choices of those in the majority and who support the cultural norms.

What I have never understood about the LGBT folks is their sense of reality, that quite frankly is bordering the unconscionable. These folks are getting exactly what it is that they want; albeit, there is no basis in medical or mental literature that would support the very claims they make.

“Sexual orientation” is a way to get most people to think that they have this ‘condition.’ Please see this article, here. Moreover, this orientation notion is what opens the gate to the almighty discrimination. Please see this article, here.

America is a nation that was founded and developed on tolerance. What more must a person due to accommodate the wants and needs of this community? From the very definition of “tolerance” people have accepted differing views of others and have been more than fair; and although it may be irritating, unpleasant, and offensive to some, it is nonetheless tolerated.

Now, just because you’ve lost in a legitimate vote, what gives you the right to damage another persons’ businesses? Cast judgments on people who differ from you; where is your tolerance?

“This activity shows great disrespect for the will of the voters,” said Andrew Pugno, the lawyer for the Yes on 8 campaign.

“It also shows religious intolerance,” he said, adding that his Catholic church was vandalized.
