Obama’s first action…

Truth, Justice, and No Lying!

Truth, Justice, and No Lying!

We realize and understand that most people are aware of this ‘change in policy’ by Barack Obama’s executive order signed today. However, we also believe that if there is a way we can ‘humanize’ the story or make it clearer in any way it is our intention to do so.

President Obama signed an executive order Friday striking down a rule that prohibits U.S. money from funding international family-planning clinics that promote abortion or provide counseling or referrals about abortion services.

The policy says that any organization receiving U.S. family planning funds from the U.S. Agency for International Development cannot offer abortions or abortion counseling.

Unfortunately this “policy” reversal by  presidents seems to be the initiation of office inasmuch as the policy was introduced by Ronald Reagan and carried on with George H.W. Bush (the Elder) immediately reversed by Bill Clinton then reversed by George W. Bush (the Younger) only to be reversed by Barack Obama.

Interestingly however it has been only George W. Bush who defended his action, saying, “It is my conviction that taxpayer funds should not be used to pay for abortion or actively promote abortion.” Do you feel that United States tax dollars (your money) should be spent on abortion?

Another political action group, Population Action International praised Obama’s move, saying in a statement that it will “save women’s lives around the world.”

Therefore at a time in U.S. history when banks are collapsing, small businesses going down daily, Wall Street having big problems, with record high unemployment we at American Age are having a very difficult time understanding the motive or justification of Obama’s executive order. Now please don’t just take our words for it here is a comment from a House member:

“Not even waiting a week, the new administration has acted to funnel U.S. tax dollars to abortion providers overseas,” Rep. Tom Price, R-Georgia, said in a written statement.

“This is a stunning reversal of course from the president’s campaign statements that he hoped to reduce the number of abortions. Just a day after thousands of Americans came to Washington to celebrate the principle of life, President Obama has made it clear that reducing abortions is not one of his priorities.”

We believe that something can only be “stunning” if the action was some how strikingly different from the truth or an individual’s intention. And although Obama had made several statements during his campaign for the presidency in 2007-2008 about reducing the rate of abortions, his real intention-his true intentions-his ‘colors’ have now been displayed for the entire world to see. The only thing concerning this issue that is ‘different’ is that he managed to get it done within his first week in office on the precise anniversary of the famous Supreme Court ruling in 1973 of the case: Roe v. Wade.

At American Age we feel that the government’s responsibility of tending to the welfare of taxpayer money has been nothing shy of abhorrent. Within a month 350 billion dollars has been spent without the slightest reconciliation of where those funds went or what they were used for.

Population Action International is a nonprofit founded 1965 (then called “Population Crisis Committee”). It was founded by Hugh Moore, Lammot du Pont Copeland and William Henry Draper Jr. as a lobbying organization for government involvement in population control. Member Harriet C. Babbitt and trustee Barbara Roberts.

An additional matter we hope to accomplish for this year, 2009, is to illustrate just how many special interest groups will handle the funds before they reach there intended destination.

  1. Hey Alex Great,

Thanks for commenting! I believe you bring some interesting matters to the table; however, I would feel far more comfortable if you were able to cite some sources for making claims about US Consuls and pregnant women applying for visa’s.

I do appreciate your concern and professionalism, however, ‘yes’ I do need to correct you on the focus of the article.

This article (see tags) is about ‘Special Interest Groups’ Political Action Committees, and tax payer(s) money. There is absolutely nothing hypocritical in the post. Albeit I would feel far more comfortable if our money was being spent on food for the dying.

Thanks again and look forward to your comments!

  2. US consuls in foreign countries will demand pregnant women to have an abortion before they can get a visa to prevent them from having the baby on US soil that happened while Reagan and Bush were presidents. More US taxpayer’s money goes abroad as military aid to fund the actual killing of adults including civilians (see latest news) than to fund clinics regardless of their policies. So excuse me if I am wrong but your posts sounds a bit hypocritical. If preserving human life is your passion then preventing people from being killed or starved to death should be i believe top priority …
