We believe that just as German Chancellor Angela Merkel espoused earlier this year much of whether having multiple cultures works or not is largely incumbent on the guest culture coming in to an established host culture. Assuredly this is merely saying that if you’ve left your primary culture to partake of and be a member of a new culture, it would behoove everyone involved to keep your fond or profane memories of the former culture and outwardly begin accepting the new one.
In other words, it’s okay to make all your original culture observances providing that they are within the law of the United States. No one is saying that you need to run out and get “Americanized;” however, “when in Rome, do as the Romans do” goes an awfully long way and more than everything else, states a lot about your own character.
On the other hand, if one comes to America expecting Sharia law to be something that is openly condoned one better think again. And the entire notion of “mercy killing” in America is absolutely preposterous. These are clearly norms from another culture that are not acceptable in America. And it doesn’t seem that America is the only place where these behaviors are going on either:
Now then…members of our staff here remember the late 1960s-1970s when Christianity was going through a “Charismatic Renewal” in the U.S. and people were on roof tops and parking lots. And yes people complained then; however, the matter was then treated like a “Worship in the Park” with appropriate permits until equilibrium could be found among neighbors.
And in other news…The State Department is planning to welcome thousands of immigrants from terror-watch list countries into the United States this year through a “diversity visa” lottery – a giant legal loophole some lawmakers say is a “serious national security threat” that has gone unchecked for years.
And this ladies and gentlemen is how multiculturalism does not work…Diversity Visas?
